Novice International Conference Insights for online professional communities
4th-5th October 2012 at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Bucharest, Romania

NOVICE is the Network Of Veterinary ICt in Education, an EU funded Project which aims to investigate the use of Web 2.0 tools such as discussion boards in informal lifelong learning. The project has led to the development of a veterinary online community, www.noviceproject.eu.

The project will host a conference entitled 'Insights for online professional communities' on 4th-5th October 2012 at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Bucharest, Romania. .

The conference aims to bring together members of a range of professions and disciplines. Presenters with experience of participation in or development of, online professional communities are invited. Delegates with no prior experience are warmly welcome to attend and find out more about the potential of online professional communities for learning. Though the NOVICE website focuses on the veterinary profession and veterinary education, the conference is open to any profession, e.g. Web 2.0 developers, educators or healthcare practitioners. .

Abstracts for short communications, poster presentations and workshops are invited before 30th June 2012.

The conference will be held at Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (central area of Bucharest) and it is part of University of Agronomic Science and Veterinary Medicine – Bucharest. The faculty had celebrated last year the 150th anniversary. There are around 200 employees and 1960 students.

Getting to the conference venue

Hotel Parliament and Ibis: 5 minutes walk to the Faculty campus Hotel Venetia: 20 minutes walk to the Faculty campus University of Agronomic Science and Veterinary Medicine (student dormitory): take tram 41 (tram station is in front of the university) and travel towards Crângaşi station. Alight at Crângaşi and take the subway train towards Eroilor Station. Alight and walk towards Faculty campus (5 minutes)..
